Education Going Green

The COVID crisis has raised global alert and concerns. Their are speculations of more such viral pandemics in the future too. Can we make our education infrastructure, curriculum Greener? Sensitising children about Climate change, Global warming, indiscriminate killing of wildlife, encroaching forest land, Pollution and its ill effects on wellness and higher risks of future pandemic situations.

The education infrastructure also should be greener: by implementing renewable energy, water conservation, waste water recycling, diversity of plants in the campus etc. these initiatives should involve children from Concept to Design, to implementation. When we design education infrastructure, we want every space to be a learning space; meaning learner friendly. It’s good to also involve Green initiatives. When children are instilled with such best practices, they take the ideas home, and educate the parents too.

As Educators we have the responsibility to the next generation, and the Mother Earth we will eventually leave behind!
